NFL FOOTBALL FLYOVERS CAMPAIGN CONTINUES COWBOYS JAGUARS FEATURED TODAY
Iconoc Historic Memorial Monument Prior to Removal from Pioneer Cemetery in Dallas, TX
Jacksonville, Florida – Spectators at the Dallas Cowboys vs. Jacksonville Jaguars NFLfootball game Sunday will enjoy a special message to the respective team’s cities with a pre-game flyover. The message: “History Not Hate” A plane with the banner will fly over the TIAA Bank Field prior to kick-off on Sunday’s contest between teams representing cities whose leaders had removed historical monument and memorials in their cities. In Dallas, Democrat Mayor Mike Rawlings led an initiative to remove two iconic historic memorials in his city. The first was the 1936 Alexander Phisimter Proctor bronze of the equestrian Robert E. Lee, removed in 2017. The second, designed by artist Frank Teich, was removed in 2020 from the City’s most historic cemetery, Pioneer Cemetery. “The loss of the memorial monuments in Texas was the worst form of Iconoclasm” said Kirk Lyons, of Save Southern Heritage. In Jacksonville, Mayor Lenny "Cancel Culture" Curry, in the middle of the night on June 9, 2020, desecrated the historic and iconic Hemming Plaza Cenotaph by removing the elements of the memorial in knee jerk cancel culture reaction to the George Floyd death. "There is no more enduring symbol of Jacksonville's important history than the Hemming Plaza Cenotaph, and perhaps that is why they think it must go" Lyons said. A poll conducted by SSH in Jacksonville showed that 75% of the City opposed removal of Confederate Veteran War Memorials on City property in Jacksonville, but Mayor Curry used his Executive Authority to go against the will of the people. “This is a Christmas gift to the people of these cities who are suffering under tyrants who cancel their culture by destroying or divesting public art given in good faith and with the expectation of permanence to their respective cities” said Kirk Lyons, SSH spokesman. “We are letting the tyrannical government officials in both cities know that the people will not be ignored” Lyons added. The flyovers are part of a broad campaign that includes litigation and advocacy. The first flyover in this campaign was conducted at the Baltimore Ravens vs. Jacksonville Jaguars NFL football game on November 27th, and met with great success. “I’d like to add that this flyover was 100% community funded. Residents came to us asking for us to keep the pressure on to put the monuments back” Lyons concluded. This week’s banner will include a web link which will include a message to fans at the games. SAVE SOUTHERN HERITAGE Inc. is a not for profit corporation that educates & advocates on behalf of Southern Heritage & History. It was started in 2015 in response to the knee-jerk Anti-Southern institutionalized bullying and “Eracism” levied against the people of South Carolina by Governor Nikki Haley, after she broke all previous agreements about how South Carolina’s historical veterans and their symbols should be treated and respected.
