RESOLUTION IN HONOR OF HK EDGERTON

The following Proclamation was Issued at the January 31, 2026 Confederate Heroes Banquet.

PROCLAMATION

H.K. Edgerton

WHEREAS HK Edgerton was a dedicated member of Save Southern Heritage; and

WHEREAS HK Edgerton was a stalwart advocate and friend whose unwavering commitment to preserving Southern symbols and the good name of the Confederate government, its leaders and its defenders inspired countless individuals across Florida and beyond; and

WHEREAS HK Edgerton devoted his life fighting for civil rights, especially that of his Southern brothers and sisters, especially his ‘babies’ who became targets for simply honoring their families; and

WHEREAS HK Edgerton was a tireless champion who inspired others by his example in taking an active role in Heritage Defense by speaking at City Council, County Commission Meetings,  advocating with Florida legislators, writing articles, and marching from St. Augustine to Pensacola in his multi-county “Southern Cross Revival March” to teach the true history of the Southern people, the Southern Soldier, and especially the African American Confederate soldier, who he stated ‘earned a place of honor” and “deserved to be recognized”; and

WHEREAS HK Edgerton participated as a plaintiff in several lawsuits to protect Florida Cenotaphs including in St. Augustine and Pensacola and also in the Reconciliation Memorial and Grave Marker for Moses Ezekiel at Arlington National Cemetery;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT PROCLAIMED that Save Southern Heritage Florida mourns the passing of HK Edgerton and extends its deepest condolences to his family, friends, and all who were touched by his passion and spirit.

BE IT FURTHER PROCLAIMED that the legacy of HK Edgerton will continue to inspire present and future generations to value history, engage in meaningful dialogue, and preserve the stories that shape our communities.

BE IT FURTHER PROCLAIMED that all Chapter events will feature a Missing Man Table or similar tribute to Mr. Edgerton and that his birthday, February 18^th will be observed each year.

AND FURTHER, Save Southern Heritage Florida issues this proclamation in solemn remembrance and sincere gratitude for the life and work of HK Edgerton and we re-dedicate ourselves to the causes he worked so hard to achieve.
