Southern Heritage Reacts to Cuomo Flag Ban: Censorship in NY

CANCEL CULTURE EMERGES AS CENSORSHIP

Tampa - Save Southern Heritage - FL officially goes on record today opposing New York's new flag censorship law.

New York Governor Cuomo signed censorship into law in New York this week. Rep. Biaggi, the bill's sponsor from the Bronx, said "Today New York says 'no' to hate".

In fact, she is really saying, "New York says YES to censorship".

The bill to ban the Confederate Battle Flag from state fairs is nothing less than an attempt to control the public marketplace, not just the physical marketplace of merchandise, but the marketplace of ideas as well. The steps towards government thought police are being put in place out of ignorance and fear. Ignorance of history and fear of a people smart enough to think for themselves. The ignorance is the result of the education provided by New York as to the background of the Confederate Battle Flag a military necessity and the multiple layers of meaning this artifact has today. Yes, there are people of goodwill who display the CBF out of respect for their ancestors. And Yes, there are people who display the CBF to protest despotic government. The exact kind of government which seeks to ban such expression.

Where is the ACLU on this? And where will this ban lead to? What other flags should be banned? The Irish and Indians don't like the Union Jack, which they call "The Butcher's Apron". American Indians justifiably have a problem with the Stars and Stripes. Koreans and Phillipinos aren't exactly big fans of the Rising Sun of Japan. Numerous peoples were exterminated under the flags of Communism. The Uigars and Tibetans being current examples of government suppression.

Today, the flag of Antifa is flown in riots in America to symbolize anarchy and nihilism.

Does Ms. Biaggi not understand that once the government gets its chance to ban one form of expression, all others are on the line? Where did she get her education from? Why does Governor Cuomo say the law needs "tweaking", when he knows it is outright unconstitutional?

He is handing the ACLU a slam dunk lawsuit. But will they take it? What exactly is the penalty for breaking this law? Fine, exile, prison?

But Gov. Cuomo doesn’t just want to suppress the Southern emblem, in early 2020 he announced plans to change the official State Flag of his state along with the State Seal. But that didn’t happen, instead the Excelsior State’s leadership decided to slam a large part of the Americal population who regionally, culturally, politically, religiously, or ancestorially identify with the Southern Cross. Don’t they have anything better to do?
