PRESS RELEASE: Save Southern Heritage Florida Oppose Removal of Southern American Veterans War Memor

(Tampa) - The statewide group leading the effort to oppose the removal and destruction of Florida's Confederate Veterans War memorials is launching a grassroots effort to oppose the effort by Hillsborough County Commissioner Les Miller (D) to remove the downtown Tampa war veterans memorial.

Miller, who has been in league with the "Take It Downers" responsible for the recent destruction of the monuments in New Orleans, in expected to call on the Commission to remove the statue at the next meeting of the commission slated forWednesday, June 7, 2017.

"We will be providing significant opposition to this effort," stated David McCallister, Save Southern Heritage - FL spokesman. "Enough is Enough! Americans were agast and appauled at the erase-ism of American History in New Orleans...and we are not going to stand for it here. Its time to put the breaks on this dangerous movement to dismantle the foundations of our great nation by disrespecting her veterans of yesteryear" he added.

HK Edgerton on a recent visit to Tampa

HK Edgerton, past president of the NAACP in Asheville, NC, who has visited Hillsborough County to speak to the Commission on several occasions hopes the Commission will do the right thing in maintaining the war memorial in its current position. "Florida has a reputation for honoring its veterans and, unlike the Mayor of New Orleans, not desecrating their memory. I am sure the families of Alexander Darnes and Christopher Columbus Quarrels are disgusted by Commissioner Miller's proposal that indicates that he doesn't know or doesn't care about the honorable service of black Confederates in the South's integrated army."

In a disturbing trend, recently, the attack on Confederate Monuments has expanded to include other Veterans Monuments such as Andrew Jackson in New Orleans and Sam Houston in Texas. "This trend must be reversed if we intend to contintue American civilization as we know it. Time and time again Floridians have said the war memorials - even to Confederate Veterans should be maintained in place, but vocal, radical, minority have gotten their way. It's got to stop," he concluded.

The SSH FL is uniting with other veterans groups, descendants of the local veterans honored, historic preservationists and will be actively working to draw the line in the sand in the apparant War on America and her Veterans that is dismantling her history monumnet by monument around the nation.

"Whatever your view of the causes of the war, the soldiers that didn't come home, and who sacrificed when duty called should not be dishonored. Moving the monument can only be viewed to family and other veterans as teaching our children 'if you do your duty and and you fail you will be found guilty in the war of public opinion'. Didn't we learn that lesson from Vietnam? McCallister added.

"We intend to win this battle in Tampa and send a strong message that the tide is turning and that all veterans war memorials are safe from extremists that hate American and her veterans," McCallister said.

SAVE SOUTHERN HERITAGE Inc. is a 501 c(4) public welfare corporation that educates & advocates on behalf of Southern Heritage & History. It was started in 2015 in response to the knee-jerk Anti-Southern institutionalized bullying and “Erase-ism” levied against the people of South Carolina by Governor Nikki Haley, after she broke all previous agreements about how South Carolina’s historical veterans and their symbols should be treated and respected. The Florida branch was activated in mid-January 2016, in response to three initiatives in the Florida Legislature that are part of a hate campaign led by Anti-American extremists, who refuse to respect the various cultures that make up the fabric of Florida’s society. Since that time, it has grown in membership and has been active in Heritage battles throughout Florida including the “We’ll Remember in November Campaign” that resulted in #heritagehater candidates to loose elections in Florida.
