Tallahassee, FL – Save Southern Heritage Florida (“SSH”) condemns in the strongest possible terms the desecration by the pro-Palestine protesters at a memorial event on Holocaust Remembrance Day in Poland yesterday.
The Jerusalem Post reported that the protest occurred during an annual ceremony commemorating Jews and non-Jews who died as a result of the Nazi German regime.
“Our hearts go out to Holocaust survivors, victims, and their families around the world for this outrageous disrespect. To protest at an event where people are mourning and remembering those who were killed, is no better than protesting at a funeral” said David McCallister, SSH spokesman.
“The Southern people appreciate their pain. We have seen our memorials to thousands of our family members who perished in America's most costly war disturbed, protested, desecrated, and even removed by the same evil which occurred in Poland yesterday” McCallister added.
Florida has had more memorials to war veterans desecrated and removed than any other State since 2015 and as of this date, only one incident has resulted in prosecution. State lawmakers have failed to enact legislation to prevent the removal of historic monuments and memorials.
Disrespect for the dead, which some view as anti-Semitism, has been normalized by these removals as evidenced by the removal of the Reconciliation Memorial at Arlington National Cemetery last December.
Between Hannukah and Chrismas, in 2023, the Biden Administration signed off on removal of America's "Reconciliation Memorial" which was sculpted by a world-renowned Jewish artist, and upon his death, became his headstone.
“With rights, like free speech, come responsibilities. Our civilization relies on the citizen to exercise their rights appropriately and with restraint. What these protesters displayed was that they do not understand that mutual respect that is required in society. We view what happened in Poland, and what has happened around Florida, in places like in Jacksonville, and Pensacola and Arlington to be terrorism – plain and simple. We call on the civilized world to join us in condemning it.” McCallister concluded.
SAVE SOUTHERN HERITAGE Inc. is a not-for-profit that educates & advocates on behalf of Southern Heritage & History. It was started in 2015 in response to the knee-jerk Anti-Southern institutionalized bullying and “Eracism” levied against the people of South Carolina by Governor Nikki Haley, after she broke all previous agreements about how South Carolina’s historical veterans and their symbols should be treated and respected.
The Florida branch was activated in mid-January 2016, in response to three initiatives in the Florida Legislature that are part of a hate campaign led by Anti-American extremists, who refuse to respect the various cultures that make up the fabric of Florida’s society.
